    Organization Description:

    Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provides "a different kind of healing" to thousands of children with serious illnesses and their families annually - all completely free of charge. For many of these children and families, Hole in the Wall provides multiple Camp experiences throughout the year at the facility in Ashford, Conn, in dozens of hospitals and clinics, directly in camper homes and communities and through other outreach activities across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

    Position Description:

    The Database Administrator is responsible for the overall coordination and management of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s donor database and serve as primary liaison for vendors providing development-related technology solutions. This includes establishing business rules, maintaining documentation of data and reporting protocols, and assisting in the development and implementation of best practices for the management of the database, including policies and procedures, data integrity, data extraction, system integrations, report customization and analysis.

    Our Database Administrator can expect to...

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations and administration of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s Blackbaud fundraising product suite.
    • Manage the implementation and integration of new or upgraded database technologies, including but not limited to: online giving, list/email management and RE NXT modules.
    • Establish and maintain unified systems of recording and tracking constituent data across departments.
    • Collaborate with the gift processing team on protocols to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
    • Oversee the fulfillment of requests for data and develop reporting tools including: mailing lists, financial analysis, constituent and gift analysis reports, reconciliation and audit reports, dashboards, mailing lists and other operational needs.
    • Create and maintain a comprehensive manual of database policies and procedures in accordance with industry best practices.
    • Perform maintenance and maintain accuracy of constituent biographical information by performing periodic auditing and cleanup of data and performing a yearly NCOA.
    • Work closely with CFO and Finance department, providing accurate and timely contribution reporting, reconciliation, and audit support.
    • Train new and current staff in the proper use of Raiser's Edge and Luminate databases, encouraging consistent and accurate entry of constituent information.
    • Coordinate with program staff to collect volunteer data and activity and import from Salesforce to Raiser's Edge.
    • Ensure adherence to the highest standard of professional ethics, complying with the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement’s Statement of Ethics and ethics policies consistent with best practices.
    • Provide gift entry support during high volume times.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Our Database Administrator should have...

    • A minimum of three years of experience with Raisers Edge.
    • Experience adhering to the highest standard of professional ethics, complying with (Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement) APRA’s Statement of Ethics and ethics policies consistent with best practices.
    • The ability to establish positive relationships with a variety of people in multicultural environments.
    • The ability to communicate analytics to non-technical audiences and translate data into tangible solutions.
    • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and troubleshoot database challenges.
    • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
    • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
    • A proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus
    • A willingness and ability to operate a computer for most of the workday with appropriate rest periods.
