    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

    The staff attorney will provide culturally grounded and trauma informed immigration legal services to immigrants with financial need throughout Central Texas. Responsibilities include representing immigrant survivors of sexual assault/domestic violence, and other detained and non-detained individuals.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide know your rights to individuals facing the possibility of deportation
    • Represent immigrant survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence, and other detained and non-detained individuals
    • Mentor pro bono attorneys
    • Participate in community education and outreach activities

    REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

    • Dedication and experience serving individuals with financial need and experience in providing culturally grounded and trauma informed legal services
    • 1-2 years experience in immigration law
    • Bilingual in Spanish and English

    REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

    • JD from accredited university
    • Bar Admission in any US state (Texas preferred)
    • Excellent communication and writing skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

    • Fluency or proficiency in any other language
    • Immigration clinic and/or court experience

    WORK HOURS: This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position.

    HYBRID WORK PLAN: This position will require working remotely and in-office in Austin. Travel is required to detention facilities, Immigration Court in San Antonio, Texas, and any other locations, as needed.
