    POSITION OVERVIEW: At Mamatoto Village, we believe that design is more than aesthetics; it is storytelling with purpose. As the Graphic Design Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in visually articulating the organization's mission through compelling marketing materials, reports, infographics, social media assets, and large-format brand collateral. This position requires a strong understanding of visual communication principles to ensure that all materials align with Mamatoto Village’s brand identity and speak with clarity, impact, and authenticity to our audiences, including supporters, clients, partners, and the public.

    Must be based in the DC Metro Area.

    ATTRIBUTES OF A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE

    • At least 4 years of design, marketing, and communications experience
    • Experience designing marketing materials for a healthcare organization
    • A clear grasp of the core components of marketing and visual communication
    • A strong designer with experience creating compelling content, and who has a passion for storytelling
    • Strong experience in copywriting, branding, producing print and electronic collateral (including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, direct mail, etc.), and project management.
    • Ability to represent Mamatoto Village’s work with enthusiasm, intention, and authenticity
    • High attention to detail, initiative, creativity, and exceptional problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to receive constructive feedback and apply changes where necessary
    • A strong self-motivator
    • Considerate listener and believes that the community voice must be centered
    • Engages in critical inquiry to promote self-awareness and accountability, and implement liberatory frameworks within personal and team objectives and deliverables.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Creative Design and Brand Alignment

    • Design and produce visually engaging materials, including brochures, annual reports, presentations, social media graphics, digital newsletters, event collateral, and more.
    • Ensure all visual content is consistent with Mamatoto Village’s brand guidelines, voice, and values.
    • Translate written and spoken concepts into visually compelling assets.
    • Create large-format materials for events, campaigns, and external engagement opportunities.
    • Collaborate with the Communications team to brainstorm and execute creative ideas that amplify our mission and impact.

    Marketing and Communications Support

    • Develop promotional graphics and marketing materials for multi-channel use, including email campaigns, video assets, and digital platforms.
    • Assist in maintaining and evolving the Mamatoto Village brand to remain modern, inclusive, and mission-aligned.
    • Apply trend research and industry best practices to continuously improve design strategies.

    Project Management and Administration

    • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines across internal teams.
    • Oversee the production process and related administrative tasks, including establishing and managing vendor relationships, maintaining the design calendar and project deadlines, providing status updates, and coordinating tasks and reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Update and maintain internal databases for design, photography, and video collateral.
