    About Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS)

    Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that empowers underserved youth through hands-on STEM education, mentorship, and workforce development, using motorsports as a gateway to opportunity.

    UYRS exposes students to high-demand career pathways in motorsports, advanced manufacturing, engineering, AI, and emerging technologies—industries where they are historically underrepresented. Through immersive, project-based programs and strong industry partnerships, UYRS builds technical skills, confidence, leadership, and career readiness.

    Position Overview

    The STEM Program Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and execution of UYRS’s STEM programs, ensuring smooth operations, strong student experiences, and alignment with grant and partner commitments.

    Programs include Build A Dream Motorsports, Drone Technology, CNC Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence, the Urban Youth Racing League (UYRL), and STEM Truck activations.

    This is a full-time, exempt role ideal for an organized, mission-driven professional who enjoys hands-on program operations and youth engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Coordination & Operations

    • Coordinate schedules, logistics, and classroom readiness across multiple programs and sites
    • Maintain program calendars and ensure materials, equipment, and supplies are prepared
    • Coordinate instructors, guest speakers, partners, and volunteers

    Program Implementation & Student Support

    • Serve as onsite point of contact during classes, competitions, and activations
    • Support instructors and assist students during hands-on STEM activities
    • Ensure safety procedures and equipment guidelines are followed

    Grant Tracking & Reporting Support

    • Track attendance, program milestones, and grant deliverables
    • Collect data, photos, and documentation to support grant reporting
    • Assist with tracking inventory and program-related expenses

    Communication & Documentation

    • Communicate program updates with parents, partners, and internal teams
    • Maintain organized student rosters, attendance records, and documentation
    • Support marketing and partner commitments tied to program execution

    Events & Special Programs

    • Support open houses, graduations, competitions, STEM Truck activations, and media events

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM, Engineering, Social Sciences, or a related field preferred
    • Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal education

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Passion for STEM education and youth development
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Experience coordinating programs, events, or school-based activities
    • Comfort working with diverse youth populations
    • Flexible schedule to support evenings and weekends as needed

    Preferred

    • Nonprofit or grant-funded program experience
    • Background in education, workforce development, or STEM fields
    • Familiarity with hands-on STEM tools or environments
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
