    DoSomething is the leading hub for youth-centered leadership and service with over 1 million active members, including 45,000 new members in 2025 alone. Over the last 32-years, we have mobilized over 8 million young people to explore and address the key challenges facing their generation—including safety and wellbeing, education access, economic opportunity, and environmental sustainability, in every U.S. area code and 189 countries. We fuel young people ages 13 to 25 to change the world by transforming their curiosity into commitment and equipping them to become leaders who actively shape the future while addressing the issues that matter most to them and their communities.

    THE POSITION

    DoSomething Strategic (DSS) is our social impact consulting arm. We leverage what DoSomething knows about young people and elevate the voices of our members to help brands and non profits engage the next generation in purpose. We’ve advised clients such as the American Red Cross, Spotify, Nike, National Resource Defense Council (NRDC), Human Rights Campaign.

    Reporting to the Vice President of DoSomething Strategic, the Associate Director of Strategy will help diagnose clients’ problems/needs; find opportunities to consult with DoSomething members and other young people to identify relevant insights; deliver strategies and creative solutions to clients that help them achieve the change they wish to see.

    This is a remote role that is open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. DoSomething is headquartered in New York City with a remote work culture. Travel may be required for certain client projects and conferences, so ideally candidates will be based within reach of a major airport.

    WHAT YOU’LL DO

    STRATEGIC CONSULTING (50%)

    • Conduct hypothesis-driven primary and secondary research to uncover actionable insights that can lay the foundation for breakthrough impact strategies that address client challenges
    • Solicit insights from our members or other youth stakeholders and facilitate sessions to co-create solutions with those most impacted by the problems our partners are working to solve
    • Synthesize research inputs into clear, compelling strategic presentations and lead worksessions with clients to build consensus around strategic decisionmaking
    • Produce a range of strategic and creative deliverables to support corporate and nonprofit clients across our full suite of services including social mission development, employee engagement, impact campaign creation, trainings and capacity building and more

    BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (20%)

    • Play an instrumental role in growing DSS revenue based on agreed upon targets and conduct support activities including attending networking events and speaking at conferences, growing our prospect list, leading new business calls and developing compelling proposal materials
    • Codify DSS thought leadership and develop new service offerings to grow business including support for our latest Employee Volunteer Solution and Youth Co-Creation Consultations
    • Draft written and visual content for our newsletters, social media channels and other forms of outreach to amplify learnings, trends and partnership updates with our network

    CLIENT & PROJECT MANAGEMENT (30%)

    • Deliver superior client service, participate and add value at every stage of a project: kick-off, weekly meetings, working sessions, presentations, project wrap
    • Develop long-term, trusted relationships with clients to cultivate future partnership opportunities with client contacts
    • Create detailed project workplans and lead on implementation including proactively owning deliverables; flagging challenges, and finding solutions to deliver on time and on budget
    • Collaborate with internal and external resources to bring the right set of expertise to the table for each project including contractors, cross-functional DoSomething team members and interns or more junior staff members as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 6+ years of experience in strategic consulting, marketing, communications, or grassroots or community organizing with working knowledge of account and project management
    • Finely-tuned relationship management and analytics skills. You have the ability to actively listen, learn, and draw insights from both quantitative and qualitative sources and synthesize them in actionable ways that move work forward.
    • Masterful verbal & written communicator. Strong communication is the cornerstone of succeeding in this role. You have a knack for developing accessible narratives and intuitive frameworks in your deliverables that instill a sense of trust and clarity for our clients. You have front-of-room skills and can effectively communicate with a diverse mix of stakeholders from senior executives to high school students.
    • Passion for purpose. Your heart for social impact culminates in a desire to help organizations better embrace a purpose-driven mission.
    • Youth culture curiosity. You’re versed on a wide range of cultural and political issues impacting young people (from Gen Alpha’s use of “6-7” to the latest brand boycott on TikTok ) and are quick to develop a perspective on their implications for our partners and our organization as a whole.
    • Commitment to inclusion & diversity. You have a proven track record of upholding a commitment to diversity and inclusion and actively use this lens to broaden the perspective of your work and our partner’s ability to increase either impact.
    • Project management & producer mentality. You are proficient in project management tools (e.g. Monday.com) and adept at managing competing priorities. You are fluent with GSuite (especially Slides, Docs, Excel) and are comfortable working with a CRM (e.g., Mailchimp) and website CMS (e.g., Squarespace) to produce content that will support your work.
    • Client success obsessed. You demonstrate a genuine concern for the needs and expectations of clients and make them a high priority.
    • Value a team culture of belonging. You take accountability for your work and the way you work with others, lean into continuous learning, and you’re fully committed to creating a more equitable and inclusive workplace for our team, and organization for our members and clients.
    • A willingness to travel 10-20% of the time

    COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

    • The salary range for this role is $76,00 - $85,000. Final salary will be based on the selected candidate’s experience.
    • 3 weeks vacation, 11 paid federal holidays, paid winter holiday break (from Christmas to New Years), and ½ Day Summer Fridays (Memorial Day to Labor Day)

    • 403b plan which DoSomething matches up to $2,500
