Service Navigator

Under the supervision of the Mental Health and Training Program Manager, the Service Navigator will offer assisted mental health referrals and service linkage primarily for children (x≤ 14 years old) exhibiting problematic sexual behaviors (PSBs) or trauma due to child abuse across the state. The office for this position is located at 11 Beacon Street in Boston, MA, however the position can be located anywhere within the state. Travel within the state, including to the Boston office on occasion, is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist staff at Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs), clinicians, and behavioral health service providers to connect children and youth with PSBs to the appropriate treatment services including Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) and other modalities as needed
• Serve as point of contact for programs that do not provide mental health services (CACs which lack onsite mental health). Support and empower families during a referral process to identify appropriate mental health providers
• Build upon a statewide directory of clinicians who work with children and youth exhibiting PSBs, regularly update and maintain based on newly trained clinicians
• Enhance the policies and procedures for the MACA referral system for (CACs), clinicians, and behavioral health service providers.
• Develop and collaborate with in-state consultants to support adoption of standardized tele-mental health practices across CACs and behavioral health organizations.
• Collaborate with the Lifeline for Kids (formerly Child Trauma Training Center) LINK-KID centralized referral system of evidence-based care for child trauma at UMASS Medical School.
• Collaborate with Massachusetts Society for a World Free of Sexual Harm by Youth (MASOC) centralized directory and community of youth serving clinicians
• Conduct outreach and recruitment to agencies to market available training opportunities and provide necessary information, specifically MACA’s annual Problematic Sexual Behaviors Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) Learning Collaborative, ensuring widespread participation and engagement from relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with the implementation of training programs in trauma-informed evidence-based treatment, in conjunction with consultants.
• Partner with stakeholders and liaise with content matter experts
• Maintain and update training and referral records
• Participate in program and clinical related meetings with CAC staff and stakeholders

MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES:

• Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field preferred; bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with 5 years of relevant experience.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge in child advocacy, social justice, and/or nonprofit work preferred.
• Experience working in child and family services, specifically navigating complex systems preferred.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
