    The Corporate Department at L.A. Works is responsible for harnessing the power of corporate volunteers to uplift the community as a whole. And, as a social enterprise, funds from L.A. Works’ corporate department support our free, ongoing volunteer programming available to the community year-round. From a single day large-scale makeover of a school/nonprofit to quarterly small group projects, we work with the corporate client to create an impactful and fun day of service for their staff, while allowing them to engage with and learn about a local community organization.

    Position Overview: The primary focus of this role is to manage and support the contracted special event coordinators and paid support staff to ensure seamless corporate events and partner relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, leadership experience, and a background in event production (preferably volunteer events), with proven ability to manage contractors or temporary staff and build high-performing teams. The manager will work closely with L.A. Works’ temporary staffing program to develop a pipeline of skilled event professionals, providing training, mentorship, and oversight to ensure high-quality execution of corporate volunteer experiences.     Essential Job Functions

    Event Management and Corporate Partner Relationship

    • Support planning and execution of corporate volunteer events (virtual, remote, and in-person).
    • Maintain communication with corporate event contacts and nonprofit/school partners.
    • Oversee event logistics and ensure compliance with permits and insurance requirements.
    • Attend select events to ensure quality and partner satisfaction.

    Contractor and Paid Support Staff Oversight

    • Build, refine, and utilize the systems to recruit, onboard/train, evaluate, and manage contracted special event coordinators.
    • Provide mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to contracted staff.
    • Partner with the internal temp agency program to identify and develop top talent for event staffing.
    • Ensure contracted coordinators successfully lead volunteers and deliver high-quality event experiences that meet all event goals and standards.
    • Develop processes to evaluate contractor performance and maintain consistency across events.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Support L.A. Works large-scale signature events and other all-organization
    • wide needs.
    • Participate in an L.A. Works taskforce (an organization-wide, collaborative team).
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Access to a personal car for occasional travel throughout Los Angeles County;
    • Some evening and weekend commitments; and
    • Any and all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

    About You:

    • Minimum of 3–5 years in event management with strong leadership and supervisory experience.
    • Proven ability to manage contractors or temporary staff, including recruitment, training, and performance oversight.
    • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector; understanding of volunteer management and engagement practices.
    • A track record of delivering results while juggling competing priorities under intense time pressure.
    • Comfortable delivering presentations and guiding a room of participants.
    • Proactive, self-directed, and results-oriented personality with the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
    • Ability to be creative and resourceful to develop new, unique programs and initiatives.
    • Great event planning, organizational skills, and detail-oriented nature.
    • Ability to handle sensitive materials and confidential information with discretion and tact.
    • Excellent skill in setting priorities to meet deadlines and reflect the relative importance of job duties and assignments accurately.
    • Flexibility to respond effectively to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.
    • Must be conscientious in attention to detail.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce are a plus!

    Time Expectations:

    • This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position.
    • Events may include evenings or weekends, and a flexible schedule is required
    • The percentage of time devoted to specific responsibilities is subject to the organizational and corporate event timeline.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The targeted hiring salary is $31/hr (an annual salary equivalent of $64,480). Salary commensurate with experience and internal equity. L.A.
