The Director of Marketing and Communications is a key leadership position in Rashi’s dynamic Advancement team. Reporting directly to the Director of Advancement, the Director of Marketing and Communications, leads strategy and execution for all marketing and communications.
Strategic Marketing & Positioning
- Partner closely with the Head of School, Director of Advancement and Director of Enrollment to develop and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies that position The Rashi School as a leading Jewish independent school in the Greater Boston area.
- Establish an annual marketing strategy and messaging framework that brings clarity, consistency, and cohesion to Rashi’s value proposition, educational philosophy, and differentiators.
- Apply a go-to-market mindset to enrollment, retention, and community initiatives by identifying priority audiences, effective channels, and compelling stories that resonate with prospective and current families.
- Ensure that marketing and communications efforts reflect Rashi’s mission, Jewish values, and commitment to academic excellence, character development, and community.
Digital Marketing, Analytics & Performance Optimization
- Lead all digital marketing efforts, including SEO, paid search, paid social, retargeting, email marketing, and integrated multi-channel campaigns in support of admissions, advancement, and community engagement goals.
- Use data and insights from social media platforms, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, CRM data, and UTM tracking to measure performance, optimize campaigns, and inform strategic decisions.
- Stay current with evolving digital trends, emerging technologies, and family search behaviors related to independent school selection; recommend tools and strategies that strengthen Rashi’s reach, visibility, and competitiveness.
Content Strategy, Storytelling & Brand Management
- Oversee a cohesive brand identity, messaging, and visual standards across all platforms, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and consistency across touchpoints.
- Oversee, with the manager, the creation of high-quality content—including photography, videography, written storytelling, and design—that supports enrollment, fundraising, alumni engagement, and internal communications.
- Serve as the guardian of Rashi’s institutional voice and style, ensuring accuracy, clarity, warmth, and professionalism in all communications.
- Ghostwrite speeches, letters, and communications for senior administrators as needed.
Media, Publications & Digital Platforms
- Oversee management and strategic development of all digital platforms, including The Rashi School website and social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
- Develop platform-specific content strategies that align with audience behavior, enrollment goals, and community engagement objectives.
- Lead major school publications, including the website, newsletters, enrollment and advancement materials, and video projects.
- Manage relationships with external vendors—digital marketing agencies, designers, web developers, videographers, and photographers—ensuring high-quality output and strong return on investment.
- Serve on the school’s crisis management team, leading communications execution during urgent, sensitive, or time-critical situations.
School Partnership & Relationship Building
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Enrollment Management Office to support enrollment growth, retention, and market visibility.
- Collaborate with the Advancement Office to develop integrated communications for fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship, alumni relations, and community engagement.
- Build strong relationships across the school to inform authentic storytelling and strategic planning.
- Act as a trusted advisor to school leaders, helping translate institutional priorities into compelling communications.
- Attend and assist with school-wide events as needed.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Lead, mentor, and supervise the communications manager.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented departmental culture rooted in professionalism, positivity, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring thoughtful prioritization and effective use of resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, digital media, or a related field.
- Five or more years of senior-level marketing, communications or relevant experience and team leadership.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic messaging frameworks, marketing plans, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong hands-on experience with digital marketing, SEO, content strategy, analytics platforms, and campaign optimization.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to adapt and reprioritize in a dynamic school environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple projects with competing priorities

- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and ability to manage evening and weekend work as needed.
- Experience in an independent school, Jewish organization, or mission-driven nonprofit is preferred.
