Literacy Council of Chelan & Douglas Counties

  • About Us

    Our Mission

The mission of the Literacy Council of Chelan and Douglas Counties is to actively promote literacy in our community and provide direct tutoring instruction in reading, writing, listening, speaking, and life skills to motivated adult learners in our area.

We serve students who want to learn English as a second language or learn to read and write for the first time as adults. Our students want to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families, and are learning English as part of accomplishing that goal.

    What We Do

To accomplish our goal, we match up volunteer tutors with students who need to learn English. Classes are small, between one and six students. Classes are free to students.
