Established in 1949, The Arc of the Capital Area envisions a future where people with disabilities have the same opportunities as others to pursue full and productive lives. The Arc is committed to empowering Central Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through compassionate case management and innovative programs.
One branch of The Arc is The Arc of the Arts, a daily arts education program offered Monday through Friday, 9am to 2pm. Clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) explore artistic mediums and create artwork that is professionally shown and sold at quarterly art shows, local businesses, and online. Our professional artist instructors guide students to find an artistic facet that best allows them to express themselves. We actively bridge the gap of post secondary education support for the I/DD community and families. The Arc of the Capital Area creates a family like community where students learn to better express themselves, increase social skills, and gain a sense of independence!
