A.B.O school is located in the farming commune of Kandek, approximately 9km from Siem Reap City providing education and support for local surrounding villages: Koth Klok, Khun Mook, Trapeang Tim, and Chreas.
Villagers work hard to secure livelihoods for themselves and their wider families through farming ducks, chickens, cows, rice, and vegetables. Other sources of income are through small local markets/ businesses.
What we do and how:
We provide education for students aged between 6 to 18yrs who typically come from farming and fishing backgrounds.
We have approximately 150 students who attend either morning or afternoon classes Monday to Friday.
We supply text and workbooks, study and writing materials, library books, computer access, and clean drinking water.
Being located in Siem Reap and the tourist area of Angkor Wat, learning English, basic computer skills, and gaining heritage awareness provides increased pathways to better-earning potentials and reduction in poverty.
