Achieving the American Dream requires hard work, but that is not all. For a solid foundation, children need strong families and environments where they are healthy, safe and learning. We believe that when all children are given the best opportunity to succeed our country prospers.
The mission of the North Carolina Early Childhood Foundation (NCECF) is to foster a future generation of productive citizens and achieve immediate and lasting change in the well-being and education of young children.
For decades communities across North Carolina have worked successfully to improve early childhood outcomes and services. Our state has made great progress, but disparities in young children’s learning at kindergarten entry and later academic achievement persist. Tackling these tough demands that every North Carolinian believes that change is urgently needed and truly possible – and that they are part of the solution.
We believe the best way to erase disparities in children’s learning is to engage individuals, organizations, and communities in owning and solving problems together. NCECFs goal is to be a bold leader and trusted partner in motivating and mobilizing North Carolinians across our state to take responsibility, set priorities, work toward common goals, and track our progress.
NCECF’s six key strategies for accelerating progress and maximizing impact are:
- Build Public Will
- Guide Vision and Strategy
- Support Leaders that Align Actions and Produce Results
- Establish Shared Outcomes and Measures of Progress
- Advance Policy
- Increase and Leverage Private and Public Resources
