About Us

The Florida Guardian ad Litem Program is a partnership of community advocates and professional staff providing a powerful voice on behalf of Florida's abused and neglected children.

Our Guardian ad Litems are volunteers or certified advocates who represent the best interest of many abused, neglected and/or abandoned children. Volunteers who choose to make a difference in our children’s lives by becoming a certified Guardian ad Litem go through classroom and online training, and then are sworn in by a Judge or other state officer. They are then certified as a Guardian ad Litem for five years to represent, speak on behalf of and write detailed reports to the Court as to what they find is in the best interests of the children they are assigned to.

We accept applications for volunteers in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton County, Florida. Applications can be accessed from our website www.guardianadlitem.org.
