YREADS!

  • About Us

YMCA READS! is a Reading Intervention and Mentoring Program that targets kindergarten through 3rd grade students. The goal of the program is to bridge the gap of struggling readers and readers that are not quite on grade level.

We are looking for mentors that are able to volunteer at least two hours a week and motivate a child to read. This is done by reading to a child one-on-one, working in small groups of 2 or 3, teaching lessons using the prescribed curriculum, or playing educational literacy games.

There are a total of 3 locations in Hillsborough County. (Pizzo Elementary, Sulphur Springs K-8 Community School and Twin Lakes Elementary)
