About Us

Our Mission Statement: We educate adults to succeed and contribute to society.

We believe in the power of literacy, in all of its forms, to improve the lives of adults and their families, communities, and societies.

We are a community-based adult education non-profit originally founded in 1991. We provide the skills and services necessary for learners to achieve meaningful participation in a literate society and to encourage the self-confidence and imagination to use those tools for the benefit of self, family, and the communities served by Sound Learning. We do our work with the support of community volunteers and partnerships with business, social service agencies, and community colleges in Mason and Thurston Counties in Washington State.

Currently we provide the following services: Adult Basic Education in small classes or individualized tutoring in the areas of reading, writing, math, problem-solving and basic computer skills. This also includes preparation for the GED exams. English for Speakers of Other Languages programs include instruction in speaking, listening, reading, and writing; basic computer skills; and civics which provides immigrant students with information necessary to navigate and actively participate in the community. We also offer limited children's programs for families who need this service in order to attend classes.
