  • About Us

The Hunter College Dance Departments offers a BA, a BA/MA and an MA in Dance Education with New York State K-12 certification and an MFA in Dance, which prepares an experienced (5 years professional experience minimum) artist for a career in higher ed. Our department's curriculum comprises itself of courses through the School of Arts & Sciences as well as the School of Education in support of the Arnhold Dance Education Program (AGDEP), providing an array of curricular and co-curricular research opportunities that are integral to the student experience that are supported by both our faculty and staff. We aim to provide students with a strong foundation that can lead to professional careers for performers, creators, scholars, educators, and arts advocates. The cultural diversity of the student population, the active, professional faculty, and the wide range of program opportunities make the Hunter College Dance Program a dynamic place to study Dance. The mission of the Dance Department is to provide a rigorous, challenging, humanistic dance education, housed in a liberal arts environment. The Department encourages curiosity and passion, developing expansive definitions of what it is to be a dance artist, educator and citizen of the world. From a campus in the heart of New York City, the Dance Department faculty and guest artists/scholars are active leaders in the field.

Founded in 2012, the rapidly expanding Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program (AGDEP) seeks a Program Program Manager/Assistant Director to provide administrative support and guidance for the MA Ed. Dance Education Program and any other new programs that are developed with Dance Education certification, but not limited to consulting with School of Arts and Sciences Deans, Chair of Curriculum and Teaching and Social Foundations, Dance Department Chair, and Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program Director.
