A CASA is a trained community volunteer appointed by the Children’s Court Judge to speak for the best interests of a child brought before the court due to abuse or neglect. Becoming a CASA volunteer is a chance to:
- Give back to the community;
- Take on a challenge, learn new things, make new friends;
- Explore a career path;
- Work alongside attorneys and social workers to better understand the system.
CASA volunteers benefit both the child and the court system by advocating for the child’s needs to all persons involved in the system.
