In 1996, Congress designated eight counties in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia as a National Battlefield Site- the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields National Historic District, which preserves and interprets the regions significant Civil War battlefields and related historic sites.
We have three areas where volunteers can help: Visitor Services- Be on the front lines and help greet guests as a docent at different museum sites in the valley.
Battlefield Maintenance- help in preserving Battlefield property. Mowing, tree removal, fence building, etc.
Library/Archives- help with inventory, Cataloging, and research at the headquarters library.
