  • Mission

STOP litigates and advocates for the privacy rights of New Yorkers, fighting for effective regulations of local and state police surveillance. Our work highlights the discriminatory impact of warrantless, suspicionless surveillance on Muslim New Yorkers, immigrant New Yorkers, and New Yorkers of color.

    About Us

The Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (STOP) is a non-profit advocacy organization and legal services provider. STOP is hosted by the Urban Justice Center as one of just five organizations selected for UJC’s 2019-2020 Social Justice Accelerator. STOP uses a mix of litigation, legislation, advocacy, and education to end discriminatory surveillance and its collateral impacts on marginalized communities.
