At Greenwood Project, our mission is simple: To expose Black and Latinx high school and college students to financial services careers.
We know there is no lack of talent, just a social capital deficit. We accomplish this mission by offering two six-week summer intensive institutes for high school students. The first focuses on coding skills using Python and R, and the second provides a comprehensive financial services industry education. For college students, we provide a 10-week college internship program where we offer four weeks of rigorous training, then send students to work with a corporate partner for a six-week internship experience.
We are a young, and growing organization filling both a business imperative and a socially responsible undertaking for our corporate partners. Our founders, Bevon and Elois Joseph, both industry veterans, started in 2016 with five students and expect to work with more than 150 next summer. Our students are typically disconnected from the industry and lack access to generational wealth. They are also curious, talented and up for a challenge
