Extera Public Schools serves students in grades, K-8. Extera Public School #2 opened in July 2013 with grades K/1 in the same geographic area. Extera Public School serves inner-city, primarily Latino students who historically have had limited access to high quality public education options within their local neighborhood. Extera provides a strong academic foundation, character education, and a personalized approach designed to meet the needs of every child.

The mission of Extera Public Schools is to ensure the academic success of children by providing a rigorous and effective education program built on the pillars of excellence, equity and engagement. Through a school theme focused on the natural world and the inter-connectedness of all living things – human communities, plant and animal life, our living planet and beyond – children at Extera engage in hands-on, minds-on project-based learning that offers “real world” relevance, impact and self-empowerment. Science and social studies are emphasized in a comprehensive curriculum that balances direct instruction with project-based learning. The school is founded on the firm conviction that all children, regardless of background or socio-economic status, are entitled to a high quality education. We are committed to the belief that all children can meet high academic expectations when provided the right school environment.

Extera provides a unique opportunity for highly motivated individuals to work in a collaborative and dynamic school community that is student-centered and success-oriented.

We provide unique opportunities to join our instructional team and to gain experience with our program.
