  • About Us

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to empower and inspire the diverse youth of Alaska to reach their full potential by offering them hope, opportunity, and a safe environment. The overall goal of this project would be to have a positive impact on the number of teens graduating high school and having healthy lifestyles in the Fairbanks North Star Borough.VISTA is an anti-poverty program created by Lyndon Johnson's Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 as the domestic version of the Peace Corps.[2] Initially, the program increased employment opportunities for conscientious people who felt they could contribute tangibly to the War on Poverty. Volunteers served in communities throughout the U.S., focusing on enriching educational programs and vocational training for the nation's underprivileged classes.
