    National Board of Directors newly adopted Impact Goal for the American Heart Association: "By 2020, to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent."

    The American Heart Association is a not-for-profit voluntary health organization that was founded in 1924 by six cardiologists, and was known in the past as the Heart Fund. The American Heart Association is one of the world’s premier health organizations. Approximately 3.7 million volunteers join the American Heart Association each year to fight heart diseases and stroke.
