Discovering Justice

  • Mission

Discovering Justice is empowering a rising generation of leaders through an innovative civics curriculum which utilizes courtrooms as classrooms and classrooms as civic spaces--encouraging agency, empathy, and voice in K-8 students across Massachusetts.

    About Us

Discovering Justice offers innovative in-school, after-school, and courthouse field trip programs that teach elementary and middle school students about the justice system, the role of law in a democratic society, and the fundamental importance of good citizenship.

Teaching youth to be good people is a critical element of education. Children need to be educated about law, justice, and history in a manner that connects to their lives. They are also expected to meet rigorous standards in order to succeed in school. Discovering Justice helps students develop the skills and content knowledge that they need for success, but it also provides them with much more. Our programs teach students that they have rights as individuals and responsibilities toward their community. Students learn that they play a critical role in the decisions that shape our history. Children need to develop this knowledge from an early age if our democracy is to survive and flourish.
