  • Mission

RIVERE will serve as a regional and global magnet for watershed research, education, technology, and ecoculture to accelerate scientific discovery and promote stewardship of freshwater systems.

    About Us

The RIVERE Ecological Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to mitigating the impacts of human population growth and climate change on freshwater systems. Based in Fredericksburg, we serve as a regional and global magnet for watershed research, education, and "ecoculture," specifically focusing on the Rappahannock River—the longest free-flowing river in Virginia. Our values are rooted in the integration of emerging technologies, such as smart sensors and AI, with traditional ecological knowledge to promote data-driven stewardship. We serve a diverse ecosystem of stakeholders, including environmental researchers, local students, the Patawomeck Indian Tribe of Virginia, and the growing community of "ecopreneurs" within the Virginia innovation corridor. By acting as a facilitator and resource hub, RIVERE ensures that scientific discovery translates into actionable conservation that protects our water resources for future generations.
