Literacy is the fundamental civil right of our time.

Research shows that 95% of children can learn to read, yet nationally, just 65% of our kids are reading at grade level.

FULCRUM's mission is to accelerate a movement of teachers and leaders who are acculturated and prepared in evidence-based literacy practices to improve student outcomes. We are focused on our backyard - Oakland, CA - but our reach extends nationally. Our Executive Director, Kareem Weaver, is a thought leader in the field of literacy and is featured in the upcoming documentary, The Right to Read.
