Founded eight years ago in Ireland, Camara has made over 900,000 children digitally literate, by providing Technology Centers to 3,100 low income schools in Africa, Ireland and the Caribbean – installing 62,000 computers, and training over 19,000 teachers how to use the technology for learning purposes.
Camara supplies eight Education Hubs in Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Uganda, Lesotho, Tanzania, South Africa), two in the Caribbean (Jamaica, Haiti) and one in Ireland. Camara USA opened in San Jose in May 2012 and is a 501(c)3 organization.
