    About Us

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in America. One in six men will have the disease at some time during his life.

The Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation (APCF) was formed in 2000 by six prostate cancer survivors and a medical advisory board of urologists, oncologists and family physicians from around the state. The mission of the Foundation is to promote awareness, encourage timely detection and support improved treatment of prostate cancer in Arkansas.

The APCF operates a mobile screening unit that travels throughout the state providing education and prostate cancer screenings at no cost to eligible men. In 2005, the Foundation provided more than 1,000 free screenings in Arkansas.

The Foundation also sponsors public education programs statewide at venues including health fairs, industrial worksites, and churches. We collaborate with physicians and nurses to promote prostate cancer resources and support to men who are newly diagnosed or are at risk for the disease. Our Prostate Health Resource Center in Little Rock is a first stop for newly diagnosed men and their families, as well as an ongoing source of information and support for prostate cancer survivors.

The work done by the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation, with the help of our volunteers and supporters, saves lives in Arkansas.
