Empowering street entrepreneurs to build thriving business and family prosperity through affordable finance, technology, and market support.
Atmanirbhar.NGO is a community-based nonprofit based in Jaipur, India, founded by 150+ persons with disabilities. We work with some of India’s most underserved urban citizens, street vendors and informal workers, who are economically active but remain trapped in poverty due to exclusion from formal systems.
Across Indian cities, millions of street vendors earn daily incomes yet live with constant insecurity. Most operate without licenses, face frequent harassment or confiscation of goods, rely on extremely high-interest informal loans, and are one shock away from collapse - be it illness, disability, road construction, or enforcement drives. Despite their hard work, these households struggle to build assets, savings, or a stable future. Atmanirbhar.NGO exists to change this reality.
Our approach combines:
Unlike traditional loans or cash grants, we provide NGO-owned, insured capital assets and inventory. Vendors pay in small, daily amounts aligned with their cash flow. If a business struggles, assets can be reassigned without pushing families into default, debt traps, or damaged credit histories. This “No One Left Behind” model ensures dignity, second chances, and learning instead of punishment.
We also actively support business formalization (licenses, bank accounts, PAN, Aadhaar, FSSAI registration, insurance, etc.) while shielding vendors from enforcement risks during the transition. Formalization is voluntary, phased, and protective, helping vendors access government schemes, affordable credit, and long-term security.
Behind the scenes, we use simple digital systems to maintain transparent accounts, track business performance, and prepare vendors for taxes and bank credit. Vendors are not burdened with technology or paperwork. They focus on selling, saving, and learning, while Atmanirbhar.NGO manages compliance and financial records in the background.
