The Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA) serves 41 towns in Western Connecticut. As a nonprofit, WCAAA provides resources and services for older adults (60+) and people with disabilities.
WCAAA is part of the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, offering a national referral network to assist older adults, people with disabilities, and caregivers. We collaborate with the State of Connecticut Unit on Aging and run programs like CHOICES/SHIP and SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) to help Medicare beneficiaries with insurance, drug plans, and billing issues.
As a CHOICES volunteer, you’ll receive specialized training to help older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities navigate Medicare, Medicaid, and other health insurance options. You don’t need a background in healthcare—just compassion, patience, and a willingness to learn.
Why volunteer with us?
At WCAAA, our mission is to empower individuals to live with independence and dignity, and our volunteers are at the heart of making that mission possible.
If you’re ready to make a difference in your community and help ensure that no one has to face the Medicare maze alone, we’d love to hear from you!
