Purpose: Promote Bloodworks NW as a local, nonprofit community partner supporting most local hospitals right here in the Pacific Northwest. This role represents Bloodworks NW in the community and furthers the BWNW mission by encouraging, educating and promoting blood and research donation.
Ideal candidates will have experience or an interest in developing customer service skills, maintaining an outgoing personality, comfortable talking to strangers/general public, an eye for organization, replenishment, and tidiness at a tabling event.
Responsibilities:
- Attend tabling events, typically on weekends but weekdays may be available as well, to promote the Bloodworks NW mission and encourage registration for upcoming blood drives in the area. Examples of tabling may include farmer’s markets, college/workplace fairs, on-site tabling paired with a blood drive (ex. Pride, Street Fairs, etc.). When possible, recommending and researching of new events to attend and grow Bloodworks NW recognition in each community is always welcomed!
- Connect with attendees and neighboring vendors/booths while providing relevant brochures/pamphlets and branded swag or handouts (as available) and connecting interested potential hosts with local Community Engagement Liaison for those interested in hosting blood drives at their organization.
- When there are gaps in events due to weather/seasonality, year-round need for engaging with local businesses and distributing promotional flyers with owners/staff and display on community boards where available (ex. coffee shops, religious organizations, municipalities, grocery stores), and tracking list of where community boards have messaging posted for future return visits.
- Conduct all interaction with the public consistent with BWNW code of conduct.
- Track individual time and service, results of engagement at events, and report it to supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Vehicle required to attend events with a preference for candidates who can transport, setup, and teardown Bloodworks NW “booth” (6’ tent, tablecloth, 1-2 chairs, informational pamphlets, branded items)
- Ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams.
- A completed application and background check are required for this position
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required for certain events.
