Senior Companion Volunteers provide one-on-one interaction and caregiver relief to those caring for a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia. Senior Companions Volunteers are active older adults who help others live independently. Senior Companions provides respite service by giving primary family caregivers a break. Senior Companions play a vital role in maintaining independence and quality of life for those they serve.
Senior Companion Volunteers are;
- Over the age of 55,
- Available to volunteer a minimum of 5+ hours per week,
- Most often retired and living on a fixed income,
- Older adults with a "helping" nature,
- Looking to be part of a community and stay active!
Senior Companion Volunteer Benefits include;
- A small hourly tax-free stipend, currently $4 per hour, for those who are eligible,
- Mileage and travel reimbursement,
- Meal allocation depending on service schedule,
- Supplemental volunteer and car insurance provided,
- Pre-service and ongoing training, and
- Recognition and appreciation events for volunteers.
