    Description

    Habitat Improvement Tech
    • Love Wildlife? Hate Invasive Plants? We Need You!
    • Is your backyard a battleground of overgrown invasives but don't know what to do? Want to help nature around your community? Join the Fairfield County Park District as a Habitat Improvement Tech and help restore the natural balance to our parks and wild spaces.

    You’ll make a real impact on local ecosystems while gaining experience and skills in habitat restoration and plant ID-skills you can use at home, in your community, or in a green career down the road.

    Also perfect for business groups looking for a one-time volunteer day with purpose and punch!

    What You Might Be Doing:

    • Removing invasive plants by pulling, pruning, or sawing
    • Hauling brush and cleared vegetation
    • Hiking off-trail through uneven terrain
    • No experience neededjust a good attitude, love for the outdoors, and a willingness to get dirty. We’ll teach you how to identify invasive species and work safely in the field.

    Be prepared for:

    • Outdoor conditions (inclement weather, biting insects, and other outdoor risks)
    • Hands-on work
    • Making a big difference

    All volunteers must pass a background check.
