    ROLE TITLE: Human Resources Manager

    LOCATION: Remote/Olympia, Washington State

    LEVEL/SALARY: Volunteer

    DESIRED HOURS: Monday through Saturday, Part-time Flexible Hours, 10am-2pm PST

    ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: C.A.R.E. Wellness Center & Services

    C.A.R.E. Wellness Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charity with a mission of providing a safe farm stay, holistic retreat, and wellness programs for BIPOC community and allies for equality. Its programs are focused on persons of color and work with vulnerable populations such as BIPOC with justice-involvement, foster youth, and those suffering mental health challenges. The person in this role must be sensitive to these populations and center their duties on wellness.

    Our Mission is to provide a safe farm stay, holistic retreat, and wellness programs for black, indigenous, people of color and allies, to recover from Post-Traumatic Slave Syndrome via Spirituality, AgroTourism, and Racial Justice.

    Our Vision is Connectivity: to Nature; to God; and to Self. Our goal of acquiring farmland is to establish a safe spiritual retreat for people of color to escape constant trauma and begin repairing their fractured foundation and realize self-actualization. Our programs are a research community project with a goal of empowering others to heal from PTSS.

    The Founder, Chair, and CEO is a woman of color, Pansexual, and person with disabilities fully committed to the growth of both C.A.R.E. Wellness Center (nonprofit) and C.A.R.E. Family Services, LLC (for-profit), also doing direct services for children and youth. We highly encourage an ethical, organized, and ambitious student or seasoned professional to help support the foundation of this new and unique nonprofit for the community. This is a home-based office welcoming volunteers, guests, and visitors for meetings while fundraising for farmland to headquarter wellness programs.

    JOB SUMMARY:

    The HR Manager will be a key member of our Executive Department, responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources practices and processes. This role is crucial in ensuring a high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity, and standards; goal attainment; and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic volunteer who has a background in Human Resources (HR) and will lead the organization’s HR programs and policies as they apply to employee/volunteer relations, compensation, benefits, safety, performance, and staffing levels. The ideal candidate is passionate about spirituality, sustainability, and racial justice, and is committed to fostering a workplace environment that aligns with these values. This person is naturally extroverted, organized, punctual, with authentic communication and strong communal experience. This is a volunteer position that will lead to a paid position contingent on funding. Remote opportunities for a Washington state resident.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
    • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
    • Manage the recruitment and selection process, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.
    • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
    • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
    • Nurture a positive working environment by maintaining a program of workforce development and training.
    • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
    • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
    • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Types 35+ WPM
    • Excellent oral, text and written skills
    • Preparing documentation and reports for compliance
    • Organizing personnel and stakeholder files, resources, and CRM
    • Implementing the Executive calendar and Annual Work Plan
    • Responding to emails, answering calls, some recruitment

    Assisting in the planning and overseeing significant legal and compliance events

    • Acting as a liaison between Executive Leadership and personnel and stakeholders
    • Supervising onboarding for personnel, volunteers, and stakeholders

        WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

        The HR Manager works flexible shifts remotely with some scheduled time in office, meeting and event settings during quarter sessions for programs, with minimal bending, stooping, sitting, and kneeling. May require long periods of standing. Exposure to animals, plants, perfume/incense, and nuts. May require infrequent lifting up to 50 lbs. May require some local travel.

        QUALIFICATIONS:

        • Proven working experience as an HR Manager or other HR Executive.
        • People-oriented and results-driven.
        • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
        • Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
        • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
        • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
        • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
        • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
        • Degree in Human Resources or related field.
