Role Overview
The Director of Fundraising and Events provides leadership and strategic support for the organization’s fundraising efforts, with a primary focus on planning and executing fundraising events. This volunteer management role oversees fundraising initiatives, coordinates volunteers, and helps drive donor engagement to meet fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities
Event Fundraising Leadership
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising events (e.g., galas, community events, online campaigns, benefit activities)
- Develop event timelines, task plans, and fundraising targets
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure successful event delivery
Volunteer & Team Management
- Recruit, train, and coordinate event fundraising volunteers
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to ensure accountability and efficiency
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven volunteer experience
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
- Support donor cultivation, sponsorship outreach, and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts
- Assist with sponsor and partner identification, outreach, and follow-up
- Ensure timely donor recognition and post-event thank-you communications
Strategy & Administration
- Track event performance, fundraising outcomes, and volunteer participation
- Help evaluate event success and recommend improvements for future initiatives
- Maintain accurate records related to donations, sponsors, and event logistics
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong interest in nonprofit leadership and fundraising
- Experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination preferred
- Demonstrated leadership, organization, and project management skills
- Confident communicator with the ability to motivate and engage others
- Comfortable working with budgets, timelines, and fundraising targets
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
