    Role Description

    This is a volunteer, hybrid role for a Community Engagement, Board Member At-Large at Capital Resource Connections, requiring presence in Washington, DC with some flexibility for remote work.

    This Member At-Large role is a voting member seat on the leadership group of Capital Resource Connections, responsible for a wide range of duties that are aimed at helping fellow board officers and members get the most out of their collaboration. The three-year term begins on the first of the month following the directors’ meeting that follows their election. The term will close at the commencement of the directors’ meeting on the year and month following three years of the election. The MemberAt-Large for Community Engagement may be elected to one (1) additional consecutive term in the same position.

    Responsibilities

    1. Attend, prepare for, and actively participate in all quarterly board meetings.
    2. Maintain confidentiality of board deliberations.
    3. Complete all assigned tasks assigned based on designation.
    4. Serve on Capital Resource Connections board committees as assigned.
    5. Serve as an advocate for Capital Resource Connections and event coordination.
    6. Respect, uphold, and support collective board decisions both inside and outside meetings.
    7. Be actively engaged in carrying out the impact and mission of Capital Resource Connections with the utmost professionalism.
    8. Facilitate various special projects as the need arises.
    9. Periodic submissions as a representative of Capital Resource Connections leadership for publications as needed.
    10. As appropriate, assist in recruitment of future board
    11. Timely communication.
    12. Facilitate various teams and task forces as assigned by the board chair. Duties include but are not limited to:

    12a. Maintaining a consistent monthly contact at minimum with the board chair to provide resources, support, and guidance;

    12b. Providing information, feedback, and encouragement to

    Staff and volunteer teams to facilitate communication and completion of tasks;

    12c. Ensuring timely and professional completion of reports and tasks;

    12d. Assisting teams to reflect the mission and goals of Capital Resource Connections in their work;

    12e. Monitoring team’s work to ensure ethical compliance and adherence to set guidelines, when necessary;

    and

    12f. Recruit officers and members as needed.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to be trustworthy and execute actions in the best interest of the financial stability of Capital Resource Connections;
    • Must be fully proficient with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams;
    • Participation in quarterly board of directors’ meetings;
    • Professional member in good standing;
    • Demonstrated involvement in local community outreach and/or advocacy, state and/or national levels;
    • Demonstrated commitment to Capital Resource Connections
    • Compliance with the Capital Resource Connections Code of Ethical Standards;
    • Involvement in board-related activities;
    • Involvement in two multi-day board retreats per year.
    • Maintain board director fiduciary responsibilities as it relates to funding and the development of the organization; and
    • Enjoy advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community!

    The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of experience in this role or a similar role in a nonprofit organization.
