Youth Mentor Overview:

StandUp for Kids Tucson is looking for mentors to support underserved and at-risk youth in our community.

• Establishing relationships with young people through one-on-one mentoring in our outreach center and local schools
• Providing guidance and support to help young people develop life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Assisting with academic achievement and setting academic goals
• Encouraging and promoting positive behavior and attitudes among young people
• Working with families, schools, and other community organizations to support at-risk youth

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build rapport and establish relationships with young people
• A passion for helping underserved and at-risk youth in the Tucson community
• Must be at least 24 years of age and be able to commit 2 hours every other week

• Experience working with young people in a mentoring or counseling role
• Understanding of adolescent development and challenges facing young people today
• Training in social work, psychology, education or related field
