Christy's Foundation: Volunteer to Distribute Groceries

Join Christy's Foundation in making a difference by helping distribute free groceries to families in need!

Why: Our program helps relieve financial pressure for low-income households, seniors, and working families struggling with rising food costs. Beyond meeting immediate hunger needs, we promote health, stability, and dignity through consistent, high-quality food access.

Who: At Christys Foundation, our mission is to alleviate food insecurity and support families in need within our community. We understand that many individuals and families face challenges in accessing nutritious meals on a regular basis, and our food relief program aims to provide essential support during these difficult times.

What to Expect:

Setup & Preparation

Arrive on time (typically by 10:00 AM)

Help unload food deliveries and supplies

Set up tables, tents (if applicable), signs, and distribution stations

Organize food items into categories (produce, dairy, meat, dry goods, etc.)

Food Distribution

Hand out groceries to families in an orderly, respectful manner

Ensure each family receives the appropriate quantity and variety of food

Restock tables as needed

Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming distribution area

Line Management

Greet and guide guests through the check-in and distribution process

Manage foot traffic and help ensure lines flow smoothly

Assist seniors, disabled guests, or parents with children as needed

Clean-Up & Breakdown

Break down tables and packing materials

Dispose of trash properly

Help load unused items back into storage or vehicles

Sanitize any surfaces used

General Support

Answer questions politely and refer guests to staff for assistance

Be respectful, positive, and helpful at all times

Follow directions from Christy's Foundation team leads or coordinators

Wear provided volunteer badges or shirts if available

What's Required:

Time Committment

Volunteers must commit to the full shift: Thursdays, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Arrive on time and stay for clean-up unless previously arranged with staff

Dress Code

Closed-toe shoes are required for safety (no sandals or flip-flops)

Wear comfortable pants suitable for bending, lifting, and standing

Christy's Foundation t-shirts will be provided when available (optional)

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for long periods

May be asked to lift boxes or bags weighing up to 25 lbs

Tasks may involve walking, bending, and working outdoors during distribution

Safety Protocals

Volunteers must follow all health and safety guidelines

Handwashing or hand sanitizer use may be required

Respectful conduct is expected at all times--no smoking, profanity, or disruptive behavior
