    Description

A Hospice Patient Visit with your pet Sunrise, Deerfield, Miramar, FL

Does your pet have that something special? Our patients would love to have visit with your pet! No bones about it; pets touch lives in special ways - and volunteering offers many rewards! Research has shown that pet visits can sometimes reach a patient in ways that no human being can.

VITAS invites friendly and well-behaved pets to join the Paw Pals program, in which animals and their humans learn how to visit patients at the end of their life. A registered VITAS Paw Pals visitor can offer comfort, bring back memories, encourage activity and provide unconditional love to VITAS patients. Your visits leave behind memories of you and your pet, and rekindle thoughts of other pets.

All kinds of pets are invited to join the VITAS Paw Pal Club.

    Requirements

Pet must be at least one- year old.

Pet must have up-to-date health records.

Pet must have completed obedience training; or be screened by the basic screening questions of the Canine Good Citizen Program. (this can be done on site at VITAS).

A Paw Pal Volunteer is considered a Patient Care Volunteer. Volunteer is required to complete a background screening, fingerprint, and TB test. VITAS covers the cost of these.
