    Description

Board of Directors - STAR House

STAR House is a Crisis Nursery dedicated to providing a temporary home-away-from-home for children and supportive services to uplift and strengthen the entire family. We are an entrepreneurial and growing organization, and have been open for less than a year. Over the next 3 years we expect to more than triple our services, and are seeking dedicated individuals who are eager to contribute to join our working Board of Directors. Board members play an active role in guiding the organization’s mission to provide safe, nurturing care for children and support for families in crisis.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings
    • Serve on or lead at least one board committee, contributing additional time and expertise as needed
    • Support organizational strategy, oversight, and advocacy efforts
    • Participate in fundraising efforts, including making a financial contribution that is personally meaningful
    • Act as an ambassador for STAR House in the community

Desired Expertise: We are especially seeking individuals with backgrounds in:

    • Marketing and Communications
    • Human Resources
    • Child Protection Services
    • Advocacy and Public Policy
    • Project management
    • Fundraising

We strongly encourage individuals who reflect the diverse communities of Ramsey County to apply. We value a wide range of voices and experiences-both personal and professional-and believe that a board representing the community we serve is essential to the integrity and impact of our work. We welcome applicants from different racial, cultural, socioeconomic, and professional backgrounds, as well as those with lived experience connected to our mission. Your perspective matters, and your voice belongs at the table.

Successful candidates must be able to pass a background check. We are open to individuals with a set-aside and will consider each situation on a case-by-case basis. However, candidates must not be excluded from working with vulnerable populations or from serving on a nonprofit board.
