    Description

    Volunteer & Member Engagement Manager

    Organization: Good Neighbors Network

Location: Greater Boston / Remote / on-site for events as they come

Ideal Commitment: Flexible, approx. 5-10 hours per week

    About Us:

The Good Neighbors Network is a growing community of local volunteers, organizers, and neighbors working together to build a stronger, more connected, and more caring Boston. We organize small acts of service, community-building events, and collaborative projects — including food pantries and neighborhood-based mutual aid — that make a real, tangible difference where people live.

    What We're Looking For:

We’re looking for an Volunteer & Member Engagement Manager to help keep our volunteer and community programs for our food pantry running smoothly and growing. This role is essential to making sure we have volunteers for our distribution days, effective community programs to bring our mission to those around us, and communicating our work to those who support us. You’ll work closely with the founder and volunteer leads to coordinate volunteer communications, events, and programs, and you are encouraged to bring your own ideas to the table.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys community outreach, volunteer work, making systems work, and who wants to contribute in a practical, high-impact way.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate volunteers for pantry days, food drives, and community events.
    • Help plan and execute community programs, like our Neighborhood Leads program, to increase donations, reach more donors, and advocate for our clients
    • Maintain simple systems to track volunteer hours, engagement, and responses.
    • Communicate with volunteers, partners, and organizers for events
    • Use Facebook, reddit, and other social media to spread the word.
    • Identify operational gaps or risks and suggest improvements to make events more efficient and accessible.
    • Support day-of operations as needed (setup, breakdown, flow coordination).

    Qualifications:

    • Reliable, organized, and comfortable with volunteer organization and moving parts.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to follow through.
    • Comfort with grassroots organizing and collaboration with fellow volunteer managers
    • A genuine commitment to community service and helping neighbors.

    What You’ll Gain:

    • Hands-on experience in community operations and volunteer management
    • A meaningful leadership role in a growing grassroots network.
    • The satisfaction of knowing your work directly enables families and neighbors to receive support.
    • Flexibility and autonomy, with clear purpose and real-world impact.
