Volunteers will work closely with older adults, walking them through easy-to-follow instructions and ensuring they understand key concepts. Your role will help create an environment of patience, empathy, and encouragement while assisting older adults to build their technological skills. In addition, you have the option to select a session you would like to lead.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the delivery of step-by-step training for older adults on using various tech tools (Ipads, phones, computers, etc.).
    • Provide hands-on support during training sessions, ensuring participants can follow the steps and complete tasks successfully.
    • Foster an encouraging and supportive environment, addressing any concerns or questions from participants.
    • Tailor support to the individual learning pace and preferences of each participant, adjusting the process as needed.
    • Encourage participants to practice independently while offering guidance and reinforcement when necessary.
    • Help facilitate intergenerational relationships by fostering meaningful communication between younger volunteers and older adults.
    • Assist instructors in organizing and preparing materials and resources for each training session.
    • Report any challenges or feedback from participants to help improve future sessions and support.

    Qualifications:

    • Basic understanding of common technology tools, including smartphones, tablets, and computers.
    • Patience and the ability to explain technical concepts in simple, clear terms.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for helping others.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
    • A willingness to learn and adapt to different needs and learning styles.
    • Previous experience working with older adults or in educational settings is a plus but not required.
    • Comfortable with adjusting communication style and support level to individual needs.
    • A friendly, empathetic, and approachable demeanor.
