    TREE NURSERY DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT - VOLUNTEERING

    HIGHLIGHT OF THE ACTIVITY

    Duration: 2 Week OR (customizable depending on volunteer preference)

    • Soil preparation

    • Filling soil on tubes

    DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY

    Once you choose to work in tree nursery development and management you will contribute to the development of soil tubes for propagation, preparation of seeds, caring for, and maintaining native trees, while supporting biodiversity sustainability. Program focused on conservation where after growing those trees on the nursery they will be used for restoration on the dry area.

    Instructions:

    DAILY ITINERARY ACTIVITY

    Day 01: Arrival

    Day 02: Briefing for the program and familiarization

    Day 03 to 05 Soil Preparation Basics on the nursery

    You’ll demonstrate and hands-on practice in identifying and mixing quality soil

    Day 06 & 08: Tube preparation and filling the soil

    Volunteer will fill soil into seedling tubes, organize tube properly

    Day 09: Indigenous and fruits Seed Sorting and Selection

    Will learn different native tree species, sort and select viable seeds for propagation

    Day 10: Seed Planting Day

    Will planting on hands in pre-filled tubes Proper depth, spacing, and watering techniques.

    Day 11: Nursery Maintenance & Growth Monitoring

    Will watering, weeding, tray arrangement and pest control using natural methods.

    Day 12: Creative Labeling and Eco-Challenge activity

    You will design and install fun, educational plant labels with personal tags name and engaged on environmental challenge.

    Day 12: Community Connection Day

    Will Invite local community or youth to learn about the nursery/ environmental conservation.

    Day 13: Celebration & Farewell

    Will decorate nursery area and celebrate with a small gathering including certificate of participation

    NB: If you will be interested we shall off affordable trip to safaris or day tour in Moshi.
