Position Title: Community Outreach Intern (Events & Tabling)
Organization: Riverview Center for Growth (Springfield, OR)
Start: March 2026 End: August 2026
Time Commitment: Up to 10 hours/week (flexible based on event schedule)
Format: In-person attendance required for scheduled community events/tabling
Overview
Riverview Center for Growth is seeking a Community Outreach Intern to support our Spring outreach and event season. This role is ideal for a student interested in nonprofit work, community engagement, communications, and event operations. The intern will receive training, clear expectations, and ongoing mentorship, while gaining real-world experience representing a mission-driven organization in the community. What you’ll learn
By the end of the internship, the intern will be able to:
- Confidently represent Riverview at community events using approved messaging
- Support event operations (planning, prep, setup/breakdown, materials management)
- Build professional communication skills through community partner outreach and follow-up
- Participate in debriefs and contribute ideas to improve outreach strategy
Responsibilities
- Attend and support scheduled community events and tabling opportunities (in-person)
- Prepare table with outreach materials (flyers, swag, signage) and keep supplies organized
- Assist with basic event logistics: setup, breakdown, and post-event wrap-up
- Track event contacts and enter follow-up notes
Schedule & hours
- Up to 10 hours/week, with weekly hours varying depending on event schedule
- Some evening/weekend events as scheduled
- Event dates will be communicated in advance whenever possible
Location & transportation
- Events are in-person and may occur throughout the local area (Lane County)
- Personal transportation is required for event attendance
Qualifications
- Must have reliable transportation
- Friendly, professional communication style and comfort engaging with the public
- Reliable, punctual, and able to represent the organization positively
- Organized and able to track tasks/contacts
- Comfortable standing for periods of time and assisting with light lifting (up to ~40 lbs)
Supervision & mentorship
The intern will be supervised by the Development & Outreach Coordinator and will receive:
- Training on tabling best practices and community engagement
- Weekly check-ins and clear task planning
- Feedback, coaching, and professional development support
- Networking opportunities through community events and partners
