WordPress Website Developer Volunteer: Rebuild Our Nonprofit Website

About Us

The Centre for Youth and Sustainable Development (CYSD) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2019 in response to the humanitarian crisis in the English-speaking regions of Cameroon. We work with displaced and vulnerable children, youths, and communities, focusing on education, literacy, child protection, livelihood support, and community development.

We are currently expanding our digital presence to strengthen fundraising, visibility, and access to education support—especially for displaced children who lack basic learning materials such as textbooks.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced WordPress Developer to volunteer their time and expertise to completely rebuild our organisation's public-facing website. Our current site, which is built on React, is difficult to maintain and does not effectively support our mission, fundraising efforts.

This is a high-impact role. Your work will directly enhance our ability to secure funding, recruit volunteers, and amplify our message to a wider audience. We are looking for a professional who can deliver a modern, performance-optimised, and easily maintainable solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build a responsive WordPress website for CYSD
• Recommend and implement a lightweight WordPress theme
• Set up core pages (Home, About Us, Programs, Donation Page, Contact, Blog)
• Optimise site speed, mobile responsiveness, and user experience
• Provide basic documentation or handover guidance after completion

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience building websites with WordPress
• Familiarity with themes, plugins, and page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of SEO and website performance optimisation
• Understanding of nonprofit or fundraising websites is an advantage
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly
