    Description

Volunteer Fundraiser & PR Support – Veterans Pet Lifeline

Organization: Global Initiative to Advance Entrepreneurship (GIAE)

    Project: Veterans Pet Lifeline

    Location: Remote (U.S. volunteers only)

    About the Project

Veterans Pet Lifeline (VPL) is a new initiative under the U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit Global Initiative to Advance Entrepreneurship (GIAE). Our mission is to strengthen the wellbeing of U.S. military veterans through the human–animal bond.

Many veterans want to adopt or keep their companion animals, but face steep barriers—including high veterinary costs, restrictive housing policies, limited access to supportive programs, and overwhelming financial strain.

VPL is working to change this by building a sustainable national model that helps veterans afford and maintain pet ownership, while connecting them with peer support networks and community resources that improve mental health, reduce suicide risk, and support veterans living with PTSD.

In November, we begin a multi-month crowdfunding and awareness campaign to raise the early funding needed to build the program. We are seeking a small team of remote volunteers to help us make it successful.

    Role Overview

We are looking for two to three Volunteer Fundraisers & PR Support Volunteers to help launch and grow our national fundraising and visibility efforts. Volunteers will collaborate with our leadership team to:

    shape fundraising outreach,

    build media visibility,

    support crowdfunding momentum,

and help raise early seed funding for this life-changing project.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with interest or experience in fundraising, communications, public relations, or nonprofit development.

    Key Responsibilities

    Fundraising & Campaign Support

    • Assist with the launch and promotion of our multi-month crowdfunding campaign
    • Help identify potential donors, sponsors, and community allies
    • Support donor outreach through emails, follow-ups, and campaign messaging
    • Help craft compelling content for fundraising pages, updates, and social media

    PR & Visibility Support

    • Assist with building targeted media lists (local, national, veteran-focused, pet-focused)
    • Help draft and refine pitches, press notes, and outreach messages
    • Support editorial outreach to journalists, bloggers, and influencers
    • Track responses, follow up, and help build ongoing media relationships

    Content & Communications

    • Contribute to talking points, short stories, and messaging that strengthens the campaign
    • Provide input on the veteranspetlifeline.com website content as needed
    • Help shape the materials we send to reporters, donors, and partners

    General Collaboration

    • Participate in check-ins with project leadership
    • Share ideas and help shape a campaign that brings real visibility and financial support to veterans in need

    Qualifications

    • Experience or interest in fundraising, nonprofit development, PR, media outreach, or communications
    • Strong writing, research, organization, or networking abilities
    • Ability to work independently with light guidance
    • Comfort reaching out to people via email or social channels
    • Passion for improving the lives of veterans and supporting the human–animal bond
    • Familiarity with crowdfunding or public relations is a plus, but not required

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible: approximately 3–6 hours per week (more if possible)
    • Work on your own schedule (daytime, evening, or weekend)
    • Fully remote volunteer opportunity

    Commitment Details

This is a remote, U.S.-only volunteer role suitable for:

    • Professionals or early-career individuals building experience
    • Retirees wanting meaningful impact
    • Corporate volunteer groups seeking a social-impact project
    • Anyone passionate about supporting veterans or companion animal welfare

Volunteers will contribute directly to a first-of-its-kind national initiative that strengthens veteran wellbeing, reduces barriers to pet ownership, and builds community through the healing power of animals.
