    Description

Help a DC Student Achieve Grade-Level Success!

    The Impact You'll Make:

This is more than just tutoring; it's an investment in a child's future. On average, our students gain one full grade level equivalency in reading or math in just 30 hours of tutoring. By giving just two hours a week, you can help a child unlock their potential and fundamentally change their educational trajectory.

    What You'll Do:

    • Commit to a two-hour tutoring session each week for the school year.
    • Work one-on-one with the same student each week, in-person at our Southeast D.C. headquarters.
    • Follow our provided step-by-step curriculum to guide your student through reading or math lessons.
    • Serve as a positive role model and mentor, building your student's confidence.

    Who We're Looking For:

    • Anyone age 18 or older with a desire to make a difference.
    • Individuals who are patient, creative, and have a sense of humor.
    • Able and willing to commit for the full school year to provide consistency for your student.
    • No teaching or tutoring experience is necessary!

    What We Provide:

    • Comprehensive, interactive training on our proven reading or math curriculum.
    • Ongoing support, resources, and guidance from dedicated FLOC program staff.
    • A flexible schedule with both virtual and in-person options to fit your life.
    • The immense satisfaction of watching a student grow academically and personally.

    What You'll Do:

    • Commit to two 90-minute tutoring sessions each week for the school year.
    • Work with the same 2-3 students each week, in-person at our partner Public Charter Middle School in Northeast DC.
    • Follow our provided step-by-step curriculum to guide your student through reading or math lessons.
    • Serve as a positive role model and mentor to build your students' confidence.
