    This role sits on the board of trustees and the incumbent will need to attend monthly board meetings that take place on 2nd Tuesday of the month for 2 hours. there is also work that needs to be done during the week and it could be a couple of hours.

    Description

    The Public Relations & Marketing Chair leads all communication, branding, and promotional efforts to strengthen awareness of Mobile Meals of Westfield’s mission, expand its presence in the community, and build strong relationships with donors, partners, clients, and the broader Westfield-area audience. This role ensures a consistent, compelling message across all channels and supports growth by promoting services to both current and future clients. This role is on the Board of Trustees and it is required that the incumbent attends Board meetings every second Tuesday of the month.

    Key Responsibilities

    Public Relations

    • Serve as the primary liaison between Mobile Meals of Westfield and community stakeholders including donors, foundations, civic groups, faith-based organizations, local businesses, and community partners
    • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with media outlets (print, TV, radio, local digital publications) to secure coverage and raise visibility
    • Develop communication strategies that elevate the organization’s mission, impact stories, and community contributions.
    • Prepare press releases, media kits, donor communications, and outreach materials as needed

    Marketing (Full Spectrum: Print, TV, Radio, Digital, Community)

    • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase client acquisition, retention, and service awareness across all seven service communities.
    • Manage all marketing channels including print brochures, posters, direct mailers, community newsletters, TV and radio opportunities, local press, social media, website, and digital campaigns.
    • Oversee content creation (stories, graphics, videos) that highlight impact, volunteer engagement, services, and community partnerships.
    • Partner with the Board, volunteers, and program leaders to gather stories and updates for marketing use.
    • Ensure brand consistency across all materials and platforms
    • Track and analyze marketing performance (web traffic, social media engagement, referral sources, print distribution effectiveness), and adjust strategies based on data
    • Develop and maintain marketing dashboards or simple KPIs to inform leadership and drive strategy

    Other

    • Active member of the Board of Trustees that provides insights about the impact of marketing programs or decisions under consideration to the Board enabling data driven decision making
    • Role has Committee assistant reporting to it to help implement strategies and creative postings

    Qualifications

    • Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field is required (nonprofit experience helpful but not required)
    • Proficiency in social media management (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), including scheduling, engagement, and analytics tracking
    • Strong content creation skills—writing, editing, graphic design basics, storytelling, and simple video creation
    • Experience managing websites, including content, ensuring accessibility, monitoring analytics, and coordinating improvements (preferred by not required)
    • Ability to develop and execute marketing strategies across multiple channels, including print, broadcast media, community partnerships, and digital platforms.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, particularly with donors, community organizations, and volunteers.
    • Comfortable representing the organization publicly (events, interviews, community meetings).
    • Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Ability to analyze data to inform marketing decisions and measure campaign effectiveness.
    • Creative, resourceful, and able to work effectively in a small nonprofit environment with limited budget.
