    Role Overview

    We are seeking a visionary and innovative Director of Interactive Media to lead the creative and strategic direction of our digital and interactive initiatives, including our game development projects, multimedia experiences, and digital storytelling efforts.

    This volunteer leadership role will oversee the design, development, and execution of interactive media projects, ensuring they align with our mission of accessibility, education, and community impact. The Director will collaborate closely with UX/UI designers, game developers, artists, content creators, and leadership to shape engaging, inclusive, and impactful digital experiences.

    Commitment: 15–20+ hours per week

    Key Responsibilities

    Strategic & Creative Leadership

    • Define and execute the vision for interactive media projects, including games and digital platforms.
    • Ensure all digital experiences reflect the organization’s mission, accessibility standards, and artistic values.
    • Lead creative direction across UX/UI, gameplay interaction, multimedia content, and digital engagement strategies.

    Team Oversight & Collaboration

    • Manage and mentor UX/UI designers, developers, and multimedia contributors.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between design, engineering, and content teams.
    • Establish workflows, creative standards, and review processes for interactive media projects.

    Product & Experience Development

    • Oversee user experience strategy, accessibility integration, and player engagement design.
    • Guide the development of interactive systems, onboarding experiences, HUDs, and digital interfaces.
    • Ensure cohesive branding and storytelling across digital touchpoints.
    • Promote usability testing, iteration cycles, and performance optimization practices.

    Innovation & Growth

    • Identify emerging technologies and tools that can enhance digital learning and artistic engagement.
    • Explore new interactive formats to expand community outreach and accessibility.
    • Support digital partnerships and opportunities that extend the organization’s reach.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in interactive media, digital product leadership, game development, or UX/UI direction.
    • Strong understanding of user-centered design, interactive storytelling, and accessibility best practices.
    • Experience leading creative or cross-functional digital teams.
    • Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) and collaborative development environments.
    • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on creative problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities in a remote team setting.
    • Passion for arts, music education, and mission-driven innovation.
