    Description

We are a volunteer-driven program inside the Michigan City Public Library, serving children and adults in their pursuit of increased knowledge. We help in the areas of: reading, math, high school equivalency, citizenship, and English as a Second Language.

Tutors are matched with a student who has a learning need in an area of interest to the tutor, with materials and ongoing training provided by a professional educator.

Meeting on a weekly basis with the same student, both tutors and students benefit from the continuity of the relationship, and growth is often seen quickly. All tutoring takes place within the library, in a space that has been designed and set aside for this purpose.

There are no educational requirements for tutors; we ask for only two hours a week of your time and the desire to help build a brighter future for people in your community!
